Just got back from the hospital tonight. My nephew had a accident last night. It wasn't his fault. A guy turned left in front of him in an intersection. Hit him on the side. He broke his left leg below the knee clean in half and his right ankle is smashed too. Dang it:cussing:that makes me so mad about some drivers! He's only 26 and now he is off work for a while.  He had a 2008 Harley Davidson nightster. We were supposed to go for a ride with him all summer long and see his new bike. We never got to see it and ride with him.:( At least he's alive. Amazingly, this is his second accident in 3 years. He had a CBR 600 before that and he had an accident in 2005 and broke his back and neck then. Amazingly he recovered very well. Back then it was his fault for stunting in a parking lot when a lady backed out into him. This time it's not his fault. I feel so bad though. He's tough though and even tonight on his bed in the hospital in extreme pain, he said to everyone in the room, "I'm not giving up riding motorcycles, I love it, nobody can tell me to stop riding".

I pondered that and thought to myself, could I be like that if this happened to me? :rollingeyes:And right away I said yes. I can't stop riding either! It's my life now.!

Jen

So sorry to hear of your nephew's accident Jennifer.

Will be sending up prayers for him to heal quicker than other folks with the same injuries. That is a good thing?? :baffled:

I know how he feels, having fought the big demon last January. The pull to get back on a bike is just getting stronger with me every week.

Just keep giving him good cheer, and loving too.

Jennifer, it makes me sad to hear of someone on a bike getting picked off by an inattentive cager. What makes me happy though is that he's alive, and determined to not give in to the fear.

Prayers are coming his way.

Mike

Best wishes to your Nephew from here over the pond too. :waving:

Not good that this has happened to him, but hopefully he will be just that bit more "street wise" when he climbs back in the saddle. Perhaps it will hone that "6th sense" that we seem to gain as we get experienced, which will stand him in good stead in the future.

Wish him a speedy recovery from the Brits over here.:clapper:

I'm hate to hear about your nephew and his accident.

We'll give God thanks that it's wasn't worse and ask that he heals quickly.

With summer rapidly coming to an end and you being a little further North than Florida, I figure your riding season will come to an end before he's back on the road and taking that ride with you.

It can be something for both of you to look forward to next season. And as we have all seen with our riding, planning is a very good distraction from the woes we face every day.

Sorry to hear about this Jennifer - prayers and well wishes for his speedy and full recovery from Central California.

BE CAREFUL out there folks - 2 killed on the roads here in recent days - hit and runs - just like the ass that nailed me on the 4th of July - now we have assault, murder, negligence and ignorance to be on the watch for with these cagers - sheesh.

Sorry to hear about your nephew Jennifer, from someone who's been through it with a cager, albeit an Austin mini, I know how he feels about riding again. My prayers for a quick and full recovery.

I actually saw some t-shirts turn up at a few runs this year.

Fluorescent Green, in 5" black lettering on the back...

CAN YOU
SEE ME NOW
@$$HOLE?

Gave me a good laugh, but I can certainly understand the sentiment.  :cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

I have one similar, flourescent green with "Can you see me now?" on it.
